Pencil illustration from an old photograph of my grandma. There’s something I always find so magical about old photos that lets you glimpse a bit into someone’s life. I especially love the way the wind makes her dress float to one side. Those small things make you feel as if you can reach out and touch the past.

Pencil illustration from an old photograph of my Mum making friends with a horse. I’ve always been fascinated with old family photographs, particularly photos taken from before I was born when I wasn’t part of their lives. Plus I just love to see what the fashions were like at the time.

There’s nothing better than finding the perfect spot to read and getting curled up with a good book. The woman here is literally able to curl inside this book! This is part of my Giant Book series celebrating the magic of reading.

Growing up three things I loved were The Borrowers, The Minpins & those flower fairy illustrations (I used to have a flower fairy address book, and I would stare at it for ages.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The combination of these have inspired this pencil illustration; and of course my love for blueberries We’re very lucky to have a group of blueberry plants in our garden, it's so relaxing picking them, and even better eating them!

My idea for this illustration was to combine the adult world with the childhood wonder of getting lost in a good book. One of the things I loved to do as a child was to make forts or cosy little dens with pillows and blankets. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A pencil illustration of my Grandma Marion on her first day of school. She looks so excited and smart with her school satchel. I’ve always loved looking through old family photographs. I also find it particularly interesting seeing my Grandparents as children. It makes me wonder if we were alike at that age, and how her school experience would differ to mine.

I have very fond memories of feeding these ducks at my grandparents house, There was a pond opposite their street and these ducks would waddle over to have some breakfast and say hello.
